August Highlights
Gee, it is almost hard to believe that August is already gone and that we are almost into the fall.  Pardon the cliche' but, "Time does fly when you are having fun"!  We had a fun show and just a lot happening at last month's show.  We featured: poet - Rhonda Welsh; singer and songwriter - Chris Cheshire; and the band River Deep.
Rhonda Welsh - Rhonda was free spirited.  She shared creative pieces at the top of the show, and before and after the intermission.  Rhonda conversed well with the audience sharing poetry set to music and the meaning behind each piece. Her zeal and love for the Lord was obvious in every piece she shared.  She was inviting, engaging and a great storyteller.  We hope to have

Rhonda Welsh
her back again.  She is currently inthe studio working on a new CD.  We will keep you posted.

Chris Cheshire
Chris Cheshire - From the very first song, Chris connected with the audience.  She performed songs which were both spiritual and practical dealing with her love of the Lord, her husband Ben and daughter Hanah.  Chris' skill on guitar coupled with a lovely voice made her an absolute delight to listen to.  As a performer, she has several years of professional experience behind her and it certainly showed.  She was earthy, transparent and humble.  For more information about Chris visit: www.chrischeshire.com
River Deep... was great!   With songs that were centered on the goodness of God, they created a mood that was both spiritual and beautiful without the hype.   The audience got on board with great zeal and enthusiasm.    Lead singer Libbie was warm, genuine and personable.  The band's harmonies (Libbie, Michelle and David) were especially nice.   David was energized and skillful on acoustic guitar.  He punctuated every melody with relevant voicings that really made the performance more distinctive.  His wife Nadine on percussion was as enjoyable to listen to as well as watch on djembe and tambourine. They are working on a new album to be released within the next few months.

rufus harris - of course - opened and closed the show.  The band was quite enjoyable.  The highlight of their time at bat was Look So Good - a song that Rufus dedicates to believers who share their lives and what Jesus has done for them with those that they come in contact.

Raffle - the first one was easy - we simply drew a ticket.  The second one wasn't so easy.  One had to have read the newsletter to know the answer to the raffle trivia.  Rufus brought up long time friend Paul Kelley to assist.  Numerous tickets were drawn and at least three folks who held the winning ticket confessed they had not read the newsletter.  Hmmm... we might have to re-think this newsletter trivia stuff.

Here's what's coming up on
September 23rd...
Michael D.  - is a dynamic artist with "plenty of blue-eyed soul..." His vocal style has been compared to Bryan Duncan.  He performs solo and with his band, the Michael D. band.  His rock solid vocals lend themselves well to any style of music, while his broad vocal range offers flexibility and variety to his performance.  In 2004, Michael's song,Things That Matter, received Honorable Mention recognition in the Billboard World Song Contest.  In 2000, Michael's songs received nearly 50,000 plays on MP3.com.  His independent debut solo CD, Things That Matter was released in May 1999 by MALT Music, Inc.  The project contains 10 songs of which Michael wrote and co-wrote six.  Since High School, Michael has traveled from Washington, D.C. to Brisbane, Australia, to Moscow, Russia, and hundreds of other locations for concerts and special events in front of crowds from 10 to thousands of people.  He'll take the 4thFridays' stage this Friday.  Browse to: www.maltmusic.com/michaeld.htm
Carl Thomas Gladstone - As a seminary student at Garrett-Evangelical   Theological Seminary Carl has had the opportunity to develop the theology of his words and music. He describes his songwriting as, "trying to capture quirky God-moments into a 3-minute, relevant, and intelligent format."  Carl explores the issues of this world and how faithful and faith-frustrated people alike answer the questions posed.   Carl writes and performs original acoustic music on the prophetic edge. His music is deeply rooted in theology, literature, and poetry and seeks to connect people to one another, to the world, to love.  Carl will share tunes from his latest project - Tales Scratched Out, at this week's show.  Don't miss it!  Check out his website:  www.carlthomasgladstone.com

Coffee - Our brewmister invites you stop by the coffee table to enjoy this month's featured flavor.  Also enjoy popular Purple Passion Tea.  And of course there will be de-caf and the 4thFridays house blend for those who like it strong and robust.
