| July Highlights
July was certainly a hot month but it was cool at 4thFridays. Our premiere at The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center was a success. The show went very smoothly thanks to a terrific staff, talented artists, and dedicated fans - not to mention a lot of prayers. This place you’ve gotta see! – rich burgundy carpet, a winding staircase, and brass railing throughout. The center’s spacious Dome Room was airy yet comfortable and offered great acoustics. I think we’re going to like it here! |
| First
on
stage was rufus harris and band who kicked off the evening. Then Rufus
performed a special unplugged version of the new song It’s Not About..
from his upcoming album and shared the importance of continuing in God's
purpose and plan for lives. The song was simply beautiful.

The
Poet’s Corner – Yes,
it’s back by popular demand. But instead of poetry, we featured literary
readings by the legendary Christian author - C.S. Lewis. Chris Maurer and
Lawrence O. Strong read excerpts from one of his most famous books – The
Screwtape Letters. One excerpt focused on how the enemy often uses
people to weaken and discourage the new Christian while the...
the other illustrated how Christians’ desire for change and new twists on faith and doctrines can serve as a distraction and lead them astray. Very thought-provoking stuff! |
| Next
on
stage was Jazz Guitarist and Vocalist – Paul Dozier.
A fantastic instrumentalist with a humble spirit, Paul edified and encouraged us with his story and soothing / peaceful songs. This multi-talented artist has performed around the world. We were happy and honored to welcome him to the 4thFridays’ stage. |
Here’s
a look at what’s coming up on Aug 23rd.
4thFridays welcomes Singer, Musician, and Songwriter, Laura McCandliss. She describes her music as honest and truthful.
At age 11 she began winning awards for poetry and at that time discovered a love for writing. Now as an adult, she is fluent on the guitar and piano and has a rich alto voice range. Laura released her debut CD, Right Justified in December 2001. She’ll share pop style melodies on keyboard and acoustic guitar accompanied by truthful lyrics shared from the heart. ***

| Something to think about
By Rufus Have you ever thought about Jesus’ statements in John 13:34-35, "As I have loved you, so must you love one another" and "by that love all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love another"? We are proven to be Jesus’ disciples by exhibiting love toward each other in the same way Christ has loved us. Jesus loved his disciples by: choosing them; working with; teaching them; praying for; eating with them; sharing his life; and ultimately for them giving his life. We are to choose each other; work with; teach each other; pray for each other; eat with; share our lives; and ultimately give our lives for each other. And here’s the kicker – by doing this we prove that we are Jesus’ disciples! The world will know we are Christians by our love! |
