June Highlights -
What a great show we had last month! Despite the technical difficulties in the beginning, it was an evening full of great Christian entertainment, good fellowship, and not to mention delicious coffee.

In Memory of Chester Price – We dedicated this show to our brother Chester Price who passed away last month. We showed a short video about his life and legacy. We were honored to have his wife Tracy as well as several relatives and friends in attendance.

Acoustic Rock Artist – Kevin Earnst - After a great performance by our house band – rufus harris - Kevin Earnst took the stage.

Kevin Earnst
Earnst who usually performs with a full band shared some wonderful tunes with just his acoustic guitar. He played a combination of original worship songs and in depth modern rock tunes from his latest release Overflow. His music was soothing, melodic, and moving. He talked to Rufus on stage afterwards and shared his inspiration and how he got started in music.

Next was Acid Jazz Artist - SiloamPool –

SiloamPool
Having Siloam back was a real treat. She first performed at 4thFridays back in April of 2002 and has since has put together a dynamic band and plays at shows all around town. She took us on a musical journey with her smooth sound and thought-provoking lyrics that describe the spiritual intimacy we can have with God our Father. Her songs co-written by the houseband keyboardist – SIDney Howard are unique and definitely leave you something to ponder.
- On the Radio –

Several people have commented on the diversity at 4thFridays.
You have probably noticed by now that we go out of our way to put a lot of musical styles into the mix. You’ll hear everything from folk to rock from jazz to country – all with a Christian message. One of our regular attendees who is a proponent of cultural diversity said the following:

According to the 2000 Census, Metropolitan Detroit is the most segregated region in the United States. But I sure couldn't tell when I attended Fourth Fridays. It was so cool to see a mixture of black folks and white folks from different walks of life glorifying God. Not only were the people diverse, but so was the music and the artistic offerings! "Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethern to dwell together in unity!"

We decided to include that fact in this month’s radio advertisement. Tune into Robin Sullivan’s show this week Monday through Thursday from 4-9pm and mornings with Sean Harriot on Friday from 6-9am on 103.5FM to hear our new radio spot about diversity at 4thFridays.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up on July 25th
Montescotti is back! –
With a little little -twisting we were able to persuade our good friend Monte Bertrand to whip us up some more of his delicious biscotti. As we mentioned before – it’s the perfect companion to 4thFriday coffee. Preparing this pastry is a lot of work and once you’ve had biscotti you’re hooked. In our opinion, it’s even better than Starbucks. We did a taste test and Montescotti won hands down!

Good Coffee – Our featured flavor for the month will be wild mountain blueberry and of course we’ll offer the 4thFridays house blend for you coffee drinkers who like it strong.

The Poet’s Corner – will feature Rap Artist - Knowgood He’s one of best Christian rap artists in town. His raps are intense and emotionally engaging. Written from his own personal experiences, Knowgood raps about his life living on the edge and coming to know God. He’ll share how he went from being “No Good” to “Knowing Good” – thus the name “Knowgood. Check him out on the 25th.

It’s time for some blues! – Gospel Blues that is. We welcome back the first musical guest at 4thFridays – Troy Michael and Soul to Soul.

Troy Michael and Soul to Soul
These guys from Pontiac, Michigan are back by popular demand. They kicked off our March show last year and rocked the house leaving a lasting impression on our 4F audience. Since that time many people have been asking “when are those blues guys coming back?” Well now’s your chance to hear them again.
Finding a Gospel blues band is hard. But we are happy to have a fantastic group here locally. Their ease of skill on their instruments coupled with their creativity make these guys exciting to watch. You’ve never heard blues like this before. Don’t miss them this Friday - this is "good blues".

Bring some folks with you!
