April 2002 Highlights

April was an exciting month at 4thFridays.  Our special theme and guests were women rock and that they did!

****

SiloamPool
Acid Jazz Artist SiloamPool soothed the audience with her poetic flare and classic Euro style.  She shared songs from her latest release Colors of Black and White.

Kelly Smith
Unfortunately, singer and guitarist Pony Baldwin took ill just a week before the performance and was forced to cancel.  But Comedienne Kelly Smith stepped up to the plate and was kind enough to fill in for Pony.  And while Kelly admits she’s no singer, she certainly is no stranger to the stage.  She has performed at clubs across the country including The Comedy Club in Long Beach, California and was a comedienne for The Disney channel’s Coming On.

Chris Maurer

4thFridays also added the Poet’s Corner. Chris Maurer who has an extensive background in theatre shared the writings of local poet Ronald F. Shreve. It added a very nice touch to the evening.

rufus harris
And last but not least our very own houseband, rufus harris, closed the evening with their extraordinary rock and soul fusion.

If you were looking for some where to go last month, 4thFridays was definitely the place to be!  But there’s more to come in May.

Coming Up in May...
Two unique instrumental acts take the stage.

Scott Loudon
Scott Loudon shares music from his latest release River of Jerusalem.  Scott takes listeners on a journey of the heart and spirit with what can be best described as eclectic world music.  He started playing guitar and writing music at the age of 15.  Since that time,  his passion for exotic sounds and unique rhythms has grown. He’s currently pursuing a career in film scoring and is working on a Latin jazz album with film composer, Terry Herald.  He’ll also release a solo electronic folk album soon.

Zamar
Contemporary Jazz Group – Zamar “Instruments of Praise” is quickly taking the Metro Detroit area by storm. The word Zamar means to praise and worship God upon musical instruments. This talented ensemble features six seasoned, professional musicians who have trained in jazz, classical, gospel, and rock music. They’ll refresh you with their celestial sound on May 24th.

rufus harris
And of course we’ll listen to the sounds of rufus harris.  You won’t want to miss this month at 4thFridays.  So come on down and as our motto says, Enjoy Good Music, Good Coffee, and Good Company.
