Good Music, Good Coffee, Good Company

Special Anniversary Edition
March 2003

February Highlights – February was a really cold month.  We were happy to see many new faces come out to 4thFridays, brave the cold, drink some great coffee, and listen to some good music!
rufus harris - the best house band in town took the stage and really heated things up opening and closing the show.  We’d like to take a moment to recognize our band for what they do.  It takes a lot of commitment to rehearse on your own and as a group and then perform at scheduled shows.  And with the new album coming out this spring, they’re working even harder.  The band has been together for nearly four years now and is made up of Rufus on lead vocals and guitar; Sidney Howard on keys; Ralf Patterson on bass; Chester Price on backup vocals; and Jeannine Gardner on drums.  Thank you guys for your faithfulness and willingness to serve in this ministry! You are truly a blessing.

In our Poet’s Corner – Local author Elreta Dodds talked on stage to Rufus about her new book - Is God a Chauvinist? The Bible and Women: A Complete Look. She tackled many topics including great women of the Bible, women in leadership, and what that word submit really means.  She also discussed where the word Chauvinist originated.  It was a great discussion.  If you missed it, you really missed a stimulating discussion.  But you can always pick up a copy of her book at most bookstores.
Next was Sojourn – The alternative pop band from Grand Rapids rocked the house.  Lead Vocalist Adam Parmenter has a great voice that sounds a lot like Ian Anderson the flautist-frontman of Jethro Tull.  The foursome has a great sound that is entertaining and a message certainly inspiring.  The band was tight and fun to watch. They’ve They’ve just released their new CD. Visit: www.sojournband.com for more info on how to order Once Again.
Here’s what’s coming up on March 28th.
Happy Birthday 4thFridays! One-year old – Can you believe it?  We started this event a year ago this month and we’re still going strong. Thank you Lord!  We know this would be impossible without Him!
Well, we’re ready to celebrate!  And who better to help us celebrate than the Christian Jazz Band Zamar.  If you’ve never heard these guys perform live, now‘s your chance.   The members of this innovative celestial band are all well-seasoned musicians having many years of professional experience and training in jazz, classical, gospel, and rock.  They use the style of contemporary jazz to worship and praise God first and pray that those who hear it will be blessed and refreshed.  They are currently working on a new CD to be released this spring.  One word of advice for this show - get there early. These guys draw a crowd and seating is limited.

The Poet’s Corner – will feature some Words of Wisdom and Faith from Billy Graham’s book – Hope for Each Day.  This promises to be a great show. Come join us as we celebrate our one-year anniversary!
